This August marks a very special milestone for W.A. Zimmer Company as we celebrate 50 years in business. What began as a small Huntington, Indiana, company in 1976 has grown into a trusted name for outdoor living, shade solutions, and sunrooms throughout Northern Indiana, Southwest Michigan, and beyond.
While our products have changed considerably over five decades, the values behind W.A. Zimmer have remained much the same: listen to our customers, provide quality products, do great work, and create spaces people can enjoy for years to come.
From Sunrooms to Custom Outdoor Living
W.A. Zimmer began on August 16, 1976, when Bill and Marcia Zimmer opened their family business in Huntington. We first made our name helping homeowners add three- and four-season sunrooms, creating more usable space and a comfortable way to enjoy the outdoors from inside their homes.
As the way people enjoyed their homes changed, so did W.A. Zimmer. We expanded into custom outdoor living and shade products, including stationary and operable pergolas, patio covers, retractable awnings, and motorized shade screens. Today, these products give homeowners more ways to create comfortable outdoor spaces protected from harsh sun, rain, insects, and changing Midwest weather.

Today, we’re still family-owned and operated, with the next generation helping lead the company forward. We’ve expanded our reach with showrooms in Huntington and Elkhart and serve homeowners throughout Northern Indiana, Southwest Michigan, and now into the northern Indianapolis suburbs of Carmel, Fishers, Zionsville, Noblesville, and surrounding communities.
Fifty years later, we’re not slowing down. We’re continuing to look for new products, new technology, and new ways to help our customers enjoy their homes.

And when it’s time for installation, we use our own crews rather than subcontracting the work. The people installing your project represent W.A. Zimmer, and we believe that makes a difference.
